Eccleshall keep their composure to seal thrilling NSSCL Division Two victory

Eccleshall held their nerve to secure a one-run win at Sandbach in NSSCL Division Two.
Sandbach were left with a target of 213 to take the spoils - and made a good start thanks to Gareth Lennon’s 76, which included six fours.
Ben Collett chipped in with 40 and Regan Johnson added 24, but they were left needing 10 runs off the final over.
They could only manage eight, finishing on 211-8, as Zak Mosam picked up 3-46 and Alistair Hunt struck twice.
Earlier in the day, Harry Oliver’s 41, 40 from Jordan Beasley, Mosam’s 37 and James Dale’s 22 helped Eccleshall to 212 all out.
Johnson helped himself to 4-38 and there were double strikes from Collett and Arthur Turner.
Meir Heath banked their first victory of the season against Wedgwood.
Shoaib Ali top-scored with 52 to help Meir Heath to post 172 all out in the formative stages.
Ali’s knock contained nine boundaries, with support forthcoming from Josh Renshaw (26) and Shaj Ali (24no).
Marvin Kitamirike and Ade Lello snared 4-35 and 3-21 respectively.
In reply, Aaron Tymczuk compiled 22, but that was the only noteworthy contribution as Wedgwood were skittled for 85.
Asim Ali (4-5) and Adil Rehmat (3-35) did the damage with the ball to secure a maiden league win of the campaign for their side.
Leaders Betley maintained their unblemished start to the summer schedule with a seven-wicket home win against Blythe.
The frontrunners seized control of the contest by restricting Blythe to 127-9 from their 40 overs.
Jimmy Jinks (4-21) fronted the Betley attack, with Luke Taylor and Jonathan Phipps grabbing two scalps apiece.
Craig Grimley (40), Waseem Shah (25) and Matt Barlow (19) made the most progress with the bat.
Betley had few concerns in sweeping to victory inside 20 overs.
Lewis Bacon contributed 71 not out, featuring 12 fours and one six, with Jack Taylor (30) and Harvey Lowe (23) also in fine fettle.
Joshua Jackson took two of the wickets to fall.
Elworth seconds’ Matthew Yardley was on the ton trail to set up the Cheshire outfit’s home win against Meakins seconds.
Yardley hit 14 fours in his 100 to form the backbone of Elworth’s 200-5.
Kieran Allsop (27), Sam Baldwin (24) and Wallace Tapiwanashe Mubayiwa (22) also kept the scoreboard gainfully employed.
Tas Hussain (32), Tariq Mughal (30) and Ben Bennett (19) replied for Meakins, but it wasn’t enough.
They were bowled out for 138 as Mubayiwa picked up 3-15 and Devansh Trivedi claimed 3-33.
Newcastle & Hartshill seconds won by five wickets at Hanford.
Richard Parkes and Rob Hagan both took 3-23 - and there was a double from Theo Abel - as Hanford were routed for 91.
Muhammad Afzaal (22), Khalid Jamal (19) and Dan Hall (13) offered the primary resistance.
Hall then scooped 3-21 and Jamal struck twice, but they couldn’t deny Castle the points.
Ethan Gater’s 33, allied to 21 from Harry Ford, saw Castle to their target.
Little Stoke returned from Moddershall seconds with the points.
Hosts Modd amassed 189-8 from their 40 overs on the back of K Khan’s 54 not out, which contained five fours and one six. M Kelsall (36) and F Hawkins (29) also impressed, while D Colclough, S Liaqat and O Ali shared six wickets.
B Housley and Kelsall grabbed two wickets each on the resumption - and R Matsa scooped 3-46 - but Little Stoke crossed the line, seven down, in the penultimate over.
T Phillips fronted the successful chase with 84, hitting 12 fours, with Ali (29) and T Talbot (20) offering excellent support.
