Andre Ward has suggested that Conor Benn needs to steer clear of one man if he wants to avoid another loss in the ring.

Benn is riding high off his unanimous decision win over his arch rival Chris Eubank Jr, and is now pursuing a world title.

He has claimed he wants to fight either Rolly Romero or the winner of Mario Barrios’ defence against Ryan Garcia, which is on 21 February, but also stepped into the ring after Shakur Stevenson’s latest fight to call him out.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, Ward was asked what he thinks would happen if Benn were to get a fight with four weight world champion Stevenson.

“I think it could be fun, it’s a fun fight, it’s going to be a fun build up. Conor Benn is dangerous, he’s very strong, you know what he’s going to bring to the table and you know how he’s moving and that’s straight ahead.

“He’s going to step on the gas as long and as hard as he can so I think from that standpoint and Shakur being the smaller fighter I think that’s going to make for an interesting match up but ultimately skills and IQ and ability and ring smarts are going to win out again. It’s going to net out with Shaker Stevenson being the dominant fighter at the end of the day.”

Stevenson just soundly outfought fellow multi-weight champion Teofimo Lopez to get a wide decision on the cards and become WBO junior welterweight champion and extend his unbeaten record. If he were to fight Benn, it would be by far the toughest challenge of the Brit’s career.
