The India women’s national cricket team is now just one win away from the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final, but the big question is who they will face. Pakistan and defending champions Sri Lanka will battle for the second final spot, setting up the possibility of another India vs Pakistan clash.

However, the star Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma is not worried about who comes through. After India beat Bangladesh by 40 runs in the semi-final, she revealed that the team plans to watch the other semi-final and then prepare final plans accordingly. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India women’s national cricket team enters the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final as the unbeaten side. They had also beaten Pakistan earlier, bowling them out for just 55 and chasing the target with 68 balls to spare. Deepti took two wickets in that match.

She has been one of India’s standout performers in the tournament and is currently the leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets. She picked up 3 for 26 as well as scored an unbeaten 13 from six balls with a four and a six against Bangladesh in the semi-final.

Deepti Sharma reveals India’s big plan for the final

After reaching the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final, Deepti stressed that India will not worry about whether Pakistan or Sri Lanka reaches the final. She also made it clear that India will not take any team lightly, and they will focus on improving their performance across the departments.

Deepti Sharma said after the semi-final clash, "After this game, we'll sit together tomorrow, and we will see tomorrow's game; that will help us to do more strategy towards the finals. Actually, it depends on their result, but the Indian team is knowing about that."

"The team doesn't take any team lightly. Doesn't matter, like maybe Sri Lanka, Pakistan, or whoever comes in the final. We always think as a team about how we can do better in each and every game. As a collective team performance, how can we do better? So that's what.”

Deepti Sharma reveals why being an all-rounder is her biggest strength

Deepti Sharma began her journey as an all-rounder and still believes she can help the team in both departments whenever she gets the chance. Amid this, Shafali Verma surpasses Smriti Mandhana Women's T20I record for India.

She shared, “Actually, when I started my cricket journey [it was] as an allrounder, so it [being able to contribute in two departments] always helped from the start only.”

Sharma added, “Whenever I get an opportunity in batting, I always trust that I can contribute in batting also. So, I'm glad [about the] few balls I got to hit today. It always gives me confidence. Either bowling first or batting first doesn't matter to me, but I always contribute as an allrounder for the team.”

India’s fielding woes continue

However, India still has to improve their fielding despite their perfect campaign in the tournament. Their catching has been a concern throughout the tournament, and they dropped four chances against Bangladesh.

Deepti feels dropped chances can happen in a game, but she said that the Indian team has been working hard on catching and fielding in training. She also stressed that the team will be looking to be sharper in all three departments when they take the field in the finals.
