Both franchises carry Indian ownership links, with Mumbai Indians holding a stake in MI London and Sunrisers Hyderabad similarly invested in the Leeds franchise.

Unlike England's traditional domestic setup, The Hundred features eight franchises representing major cities and regions rather than counties, with identical branding shared across both the men's and women's competitions.

First launched by the England and Wales Cricket Board back in 2021, the tournament has undergone several rebrands over the years.

The Oval Invincibles became MI London after Reliance acquired a 49 per cent stake alongside Surrey Cricket Club's majority holding, while the Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals were rechristened Sunrisers Leeds and Manchester Super Giants respectively following fresh ownership deals.

This season also marks a shift away from the original draft system toward a full auction format, a change that has pushed the men's overall salary pool up by roughly 45 per cent.

Franchises are now permitted four overseas signings each, one more than the previous cap of three, while a new combined trophy system has been introduced, rewarding franchises based on the cumulative performance of both their men's and women's teams across the season.
