Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 8th match of IPL 2026. Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will host this game on 4th April 2026 at 7:30 PM IST. Both sides have won their respective first matches of this season, and it promises to be a cracking encounter.

Delhi Capitals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in their first game. The bowlers did a great job, led by Lungi Ngidi (3 wickets). T Natarajan (3 wickets) and Kuldeep Yadav (2 wickets) assisted him well. 

The top order failed to get going in chasing down 142 runs. Sameer Rizvi’s brilliant knock of 70* runs will be a big boost for the Capitals. Tristan Stubbs (39* runs) also did well. Nitish Rana played some shots but eventually failed to score big. KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka will have to ensure that DC gets off to a flying start considering their batting depth.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians were at their dominant best in their first match this season against KKR. They chased down 220 runs with five deliveries and six wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma (78 runs) looked in sublime touch, while Ryan Rickelton (81 runs) showed why he’s rated so highly. 

Shardul Thakur (3 wickets) bowled really well. MI has superb depth with both bat and ball, and their players are in form as well. Mitchell Santner has joined the squad and should replace Allah Ghazanfar in the XI from the last game.

The pitch will be an excellent one for batting. The dimensions are also on the smaller side, so expect a run-feast for the batters. There won’t be much movement for the pacers as this is a day game, but they can get some grip when the ball gets older. Spinners too will get something off the deck, especially as the game progresses.

The average first innings score here in IPL 2025 was 203 runs. Teams will prefer chasing, but batting first won’t be a bad option either. 

It will be a cloudy day in Delhi, and there are slight chances (20%) of rain during the game time. But we should get a full match. The temperature will be around 29-30 degrees Celsius.

• Hardik Pandya will bowl 3-4 overs and he batted at at number 5 in the last game. He’s arguably the best all-rounder in world cricket right now and will be a no-brainer in your fantasy teams. Try him as C/VC in some of your teams. 
• Axar Patel bowled well in the first game against LSG. He will bowl his full quota and will bat at number 4 or 5. Axar will be a key player for his side in batting as well as bowling. He’s been in good form recently and will be someone you can back in this game.

Key bowler picks: 

• Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets in the last game against LSG. He bowled well, attacked the batters, and controlled the flow of runs. He will be a key bowler for DC, especially against the left-hand batters in the MI lineup.
• Lungi Ngidi’s slower delivery is the talk of the town right now. It is super deceptive and effective, and no batter has been able to pick it till now. Ngidi will be a key bowler for DC in the middle and death overs and it’ll be interesting to see how he goes against MI’s batting unit. 
• Jasprit Bumrah has 22 wickets against DC in 14 matches. He’s the best pacer in the entire tournament and will fancy his chances against Delhi’s top order in this game. Bumrah will be a must in your fantasy teams.
