SRH’s IPL 2026 campaign has had to start without skipper Pat Cummins as the Aussie is still recovering from injury. In his absence, Ishan Kishan is leading the side. As of now, SRH have played two games and won one of them. But one man who is not happy with Ishan being skipper is Yuvraj Singh. This is not because he has anything against Ishan. The reason is he feels Abhishek Sharma should be the SRH captain.

Yuvraj Singh Turns Back the Clock

Yuvraj believes that Abhishek has done more than enough to be considered the captain and it hurts when someone giving his all is overlooked. He recalled his own experience when MS Dhoni was made India captain out of the blue.

"I was a bit disappointed. I also love Ishan Kishan; I have seen his growth in Indian cricket as well. Let me give you an example from a player's perspective: Abhishek Sharma came into the team before the World Cup, his state team won, he scored a hundred, then he played in the World Cup, scored runs, India won, and then they made him captain. In franchise cricket, if a player has been with one team for seven years, giving his heart and soul, captaining his state, and then doesn't get the leadership role, what frame of mind will he play with? But the good thing is that he has a good relationship with Ishan," he said on Sports Tak.

Yuvraj Singh Speaks on MS Dhoni Becoming India Captain

"For example, when I was in the Indian team, Bhajji and Sehwag were senior, and I was the vice-captain. This was around 2007. But out of nowhere, MS Dhoni became captain, whatever the reasons were. When MS was made captain, it was like someone was destined to lead and do great things for India. That is going to happen. But from a player's perspective, it is disappointing when someone has done so much for a team over many years," he added.

SRH in IPL 2026 So Far

SRH began with a six-wicket loss to RCB before they creamed KKR by 65 runs. Their next game is vs SRH on April 5. They are currently 6th on the points table. That was the position they finished in the last season. In 2016, SRH won their one and only IPL title. It remains to be seen how IPL 2026 goes for them.

IPL 2026 began on March 28 and shall end on May 31. RCB are the defending champions while CSK and MI are currently tied for most titles. RR won the 1st edition in 2008 and this is the 19th season.
